When my husband first to France, he came into a bar and ordered two beers (deux bières). The waiter looked surprised, and my husband had to endure several times that, in fact, he wanted two beers. Finally the waiter disappeared and returned a few minutes later with a small plate of butter (du beurre), which he left on the table. We still laugh about it.

Your morning coffee

The ritual is to drink before dinner, alive and well in France. If youlocated in the south, why not try a glass of Pastis, France licorice liqueur? Or perhaps a Kir or Kir Royal (This black currant liqueur with either wine or champagne). There are so many regional specialties at cocktail hour, and it's fun to try to drink what the locals.
Wine
It would be a shame to come to France and not try some of the wines. France has many wine regions and each specializes in certain types of wine. Here are some terms that are you theOpen:
vin rouge - red wine
vin blanc - white wine

doux - sweet
AOC - stands for Appellation d'Origine contrôlée. This means that the wine in order to meet certain standards and grown in a particular region.

Digestif
