Wine Travel - New York Niagara Wine Trail is a shining star

Friday, April 9, 2010

As any wine lover knows that next great bottle of wine can come from any of the world's great wine regions.

And during this trip report's goal very well known, we would also like you probably do not have a friendly, exciting city, which is, frankly, have to see on many lists to tell.

The New York State wine scene

Wine and wine have long been part of the State of New York. New York is always in the top 10 states in terms of viticulture and wineProduction and has more than 100 wineries. Wine trails abound here from Long Iceland, to the beautiful Finger Lakes, and many more. Most of the state of climate and topography are ideal for wine growing and wine production since 1800, grow and thrive.

Western New York is a particularly ideal area for wine lovers, since the affinity between the two large lakes, a perfect microclimate for grapes. The Niagara Wine Trail, just minutes from Niagara Falls and only 1 / 2 hoursoffers of Buffalo with 12 wineries, a welcoming introduction to New York wines.

First stop: Niagara Falls

When we came into New York from the Pennsylvania border, we had our hearts set on an afternoon visit to Niagara Falls. First discovered by European settlers Louis Hennepin in 1678, the world has to a path here since then. And the cases always delivers! The spectacular cascade of water falling a jaw and awe-inspiring sight.

There are numerousPlaces to both the Horseshoe and American Falls on the American or Canadian side, but the best place to really feel the fall on the legendary "Maid of the Mist. Before you board step, you are a light blue rain slicker, complete be provided with a hood. As the boat chugs towards the falls, it will rock and Bob, as it churns over the turbulent water. Ultimately, you will be ferried to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. Here sits the true power of the case before you, with a roar so deafening youcan barely hear the captain dramatic announcement: "The ... Niagara Falls."

Of course there are many places to part with your money here, from wax museums to gift shops to helicopter flights. But no matter how you choose to Niagara Falls experience, we have only one piece of advice: Bring lots of film!

Experiencing Buffalo Wings and other great things

After drying of our exciting Maid of the Mist experience, it was time for the short 20 minutesTrip to the Lake Erie port city of Buffalo. From reading the brochures we had previously collected, we have specialties with the promise of historic architecture, trendy fascinating entertainment and shopping district, and local.

We checked into our hotel in the city center, the comfortable Best Western Inn on the Avenue to settle in for our 3 nights in the Buffalo-Niagara region. With a particular local specialty foods on our minds, we headed for a Buffalo institution, the world famous AnchorBar

The Anchor Bar is, of course, known as the origin of Buffalo wings. Since 1964, this neighborhood gem has been turning out more than one chicken wing style, a delicious than the other. As good as the chicken wings are, be sure to try the other Buffalo specialty, beef on Weck. It is a thinly sliced roast beef sandwich, served on a specialty roll called Kimmelweck, which is basically a round bun with deli-style course, salt and onions on top. The washed down with a pitcherGenesee Cream Ale always wonderful, that's as close to heaven as you get in western New York! If all this makes you hungry, do not worry, the Anchor Bar wings ships overnight across the country.

Over the next three days, both before and after attending a wine farm, we came to experience and know Buffalo. This is a proud, friendly city full of historic architecture and vibrant entertainment and shopping district. There is also a city of four distinct seasons. Temperaturesof Lake Erie moderates, and we were told that the mercury has never hit 100 in Buffalo. In winter, the area around Buffalo Mountain a skier's paradise. So no matter your exercise of choice, it is something waiting for you in Buffalo. To see a complete list of things to do, check out our recommendations below.

Niagara Wine Trail

The Niagara Wine Trail is very convenient to both Buffalo and Niagara Falls. From downtown Buffalo, it is less than 1 / 2 hours on the mainCluster of wineries located immediately west of the village of Lockport, NY. Only on Route 425 north of Buffalo and follow the signs to winery.

There are 12 wineries on the trail, of which 11 are located in Niagara County. Even if you do not have the opportunity to visit all 12 as we take the time to see the pleasant short drive from Buffalo Niagara Falls or to enjoy one or two. This is farming country, a paradise for fruit production. There is a sense of calm here, with rollingBreezes from Lake Ontario, just a few miles north.

The wineries here are celebrating the passion of winemaking, and you will be in luck if the wine trail is an event, while visiting you. Here you will find everything from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noirs, Rieslings and dessert wines and fruit wines. Of particular note, we found that most of the wineries on this route was a unique style and specialty, with almost all with grapes and fruit from the immediate area. Let's get to know each of the 12Wineries ...

Vizarra Vineyards: This is a great family destination, with two outdoor terraces with vineyards and views of the sunset and U-Pick opportunities for onsite orchards. The vineyard itself is part of Becker Farms, a well known attraction in this area.

There is a wide selection of red, white and specialty fruit wines here. We enjoyed the fresh Rusty's Riesling and sweet system technically made over the Niagara Falls, the Niagara grape common in the region.

Eveningside Vineyards:Eveningside is a family farm winery (complete with beautiful red barn!) Specialize Chardonnays, Rieslings and Cabernet Franc. We particularly recommend the 2007 Riesling, an excellent example of the style and Crofton Blush, a semi sweet offers ideal for summer sipping.

Honeymoon Trail Winery: the perfect name for a winery in the Niagara Falls area, offers a beautiful setting on Honeymoon Trail sample their wines. Try the spicy, Cabernet Franc and the WhiteLace, one of Riesling and Cayuga White Blend. We also took home two bottles of Just Peachy, cultivated a sharp and fruity wine with New York made peaches.

Warm Lake Estate: Pinot Noir is the name of the game on the warm lake estate. Wine Spectator consistently praises the Pinot Noir, it is the best of its kind in New York rate. Their expansive vineyard Pinot Noir grapes hosting only, is visible from the outside deck.

Arrowhead Spring Vineyards: This attractive family-run winerya wide range of grapes in his vineyard, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec and Chardonnay, to do all the good in the Niagara region. The result is some of the most spectacular wine that we enjoyed on this trip.

We loved the smooth, buttery 2006 Chardonnay Barrel Fermented in particular. Another is we recorded our collection, the Apogee Red, a delightful blend of European grape varieties, which is well on its own or mix with food.

Niagara Landing wineries: One of the olderWineries in the Niagara Region offers Landing over two dozen wine selection with a wonderful gift shop with works by local artists.

Go for the White House, a fruity mixture, and the red Baco Noir, one of the most complex red berries and spices we had. Another wine worth crowing here on Red Rooster, a smooth red blend drink. Last but not least, try the Boxer Blush, named after the family pet boxer, Sir Arthur. Also of note, we found the prices here to a largeBargain.

Spring Lake Winery: The winery at the Spring Lake Winery is part of the peaceful 78 acre site, complete with an 8-acre lake and numerous hiking trails. We enjoyed an invigorating hike 2 miles through the property before the end of the Tuscan style tasting room, where we at the Dove and tried the Gewurztraminer, with its bouquet of apricot and banana. If you visit, be sure to ask about their Wine Train Excursions, a collaboration between the winery and a local railwaymuseum.

Chiappone wineries: Situated on a beautiful farm setting near the small town of Newfane, Chiappone Cellars has a long tradition of wine production over three generations. We thought the whites were the stars here, particularly the Morning Star, a dry but fruity Riesling wine that has received numerous awards. Also try Moonglow, a clean and smooth Traminette.

Schulze Vineyards and Winery: A stone's throw from the shores of Lake Ontario, Schulze Vineyards and Winery litterlocated on 120 acres of beautiful farmland. If you visit here, you will literally experience the fresh aroma of the grapes and Lake Ontario at the same time.

In its current planting vineyards include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Catawba, Vidal, Niagara and Riesling. With regard to wine, we were delighted to taste some very interesting sparkling wines here before they made their very nice Cabernet Franc and Vidal Blanc Nouveau, among others.

Freedom RunWinery: Freedom Run Winery is a family run and operated, with fragrant fruit gardens around the new tasting room. When we visited, 11 wines were available. We thought the Manning Manor Blanc was superb, one of Cayuga White and Vidal Blanc blend, what a pleasant and slightly sweet taste. We also recommend the Cabernet Franc, with large dark aromas of cherry and blackberry. Before you go, be sure to see the various art works in glass and ceramics, handmade by a Freedom Run'sOwners and offered for sale on their website.

Leonard Oakes Estate Winery: The new winery is the only Niagara Wine Trail member outside of Niagara County, as it is only through the Orleans County Line, just 5 minutes from Vizcarra Vineyards. The official opening is the beginning of July, but the wine-tasting room and were ready to go when we visited a few weeks earlier.

Leonard Oakes Estate wines are all made from grapes produced on site and are fun and easy to drink. Trythe wonderfully complex Frontenac, with notes of dark fruits like blackberry and plum. On the brighter side, opt for a true taste of the region with White Oakes, a refreshing Chardonnay, Seyval Blanc and Cayuga White Blend.

The Winery at Marjim Manor: Finally, we want to take you to the shores of Lake Ontario to the beautiful grounds and the setting of the Winery at Marjim Manor. The estate, the situation has an interesting history, used at various times as a grainery, a home, and even aMonastery. Some even say the place is haunted!

The wines are very much in advance and kind. Fruit wines govern the day here, all produced by the operator of the orchard. And that really is a spectacular location on wine taste and linger, with a commanding view of Lake Ontario. We found several unique wines here, with one of our favorites for Thursday afternoon at three, a blend of Niagara grapes and peaches. Another was the white one hundred windows, an easy to drink, fruitySelection. Make sure you take your time here ... the setting and the grounds are breathtaking.

We shared this winery visits in a three-day period, the visit of not more than four per day. The best part about this wine trail is the proximity of the wineries ... they are not only an easy drive of each other, but they are also very close to Buffalo.

The New York leg of this trip was a great combination of rural farm wineries and attractions of the city. Basically, the best of bothWorlds. We hope that this issue sparked your interest in this scenic and underrated wine region!

The Niagara Wine Trail is just one of many very pleasant wine destinations in this part of the country. New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio filled with wineries and wine trails, so be sure to put these goals on your Wine Travel Wishlist.

Fruit - Recipe for a sweetened version Lesser

Sunday, April 4, 2010

I was in the south, where very sweet tea is the norm increases. In fact, if you are in a restaurant and do not want your tea sweetened, you must specify that you want to UN-sweetened tea. Most waiters / waitresses south of the Mason-Dixon Line is automatically bring sweet tea if you ask for tea or iced tea. Actually, I have had to wait while the restaurant staff made tea without sugar.

My grandmother works with 2 ½ cups of sugar in one liter of tea! It is a perfectly acceptableAllocation of sugar cane granulated product in a pot of tea Georgia. Many southerners, including most members of my family, love, but I never learned to like the taste of syrupy it. Besides the extra sugar only converted into fat and lands on my hips and thighs, so I opt for a lesser-sweetened recipe.

I spent a few years in the north, where sweet tea was not readily available. I was in heaven. I had to make never worry when I drove away from the take-out window when I wentgag on the first full of straw my drink.

The same applies to fruit teas. Most are just too sweet for my taste. If I want to Tennessee fruit in a restaurant here in I ask for half a glass of fruit tea and half a glass of unsweetened tea. I get some crazy looks and get in control for two drinks for free. Okay, here's my solution.

1st Do not drink tea in a Southern restaurant, where you get the exercise and the control of blood sugar in person.
2nd Take part in Fruithome about this delicious recipe. It tastes great in any season!

4 * Family-sized tea bags

1 ½ quarts boiling water

½ quarts of cold water

** 1 liter of orange juice

** 1 pint of apple or pineapple juice

** 1 pint lemonade

* Green tea has more health benefits (such as antioxidant properties) than regular tea, but the flavor is lost when you add the remaining ingredients. If you want a stronger taste of fruit tea, I suggest, withBlack or Orange Pekoe tea bags. Sweet Tea Southerner would never green tea. Come to think they would not use this recipe for fruit tea either!

** You can mix comparable amounts of juice.

Place tea bags in one-gallon pot in which you plan to serve, or store your brew.

With boiling water over tea bags and let it steep for about an hour.

Discard tea bags, cold water and juice. Mix and store overnight in the refrigerator. Stir before pouring, enjoy cold and serve.

French Drinks - Getting Your Order Right

Monday, March 29, 2010

When my husband first to France, he came into a bar and ordered two beers (deux bières). The waiter looked surprised, and my husband had to endure several times that, in fact, he wanted two beers. Finally the waiter disappeared and returned a few minutes later with a small plate of butter (du beurre), which he left on the table. We still laugh about it.

To avoid similar problems here a list of drinks that you want to order is, you can while visiting the Hexagon. And notForget about the power of the hand signals, I think the waiter would have understood it when my husband had kept a few fingers to help with the counting.

Your morning coffee

If you have coffee in a cafe in France (and I hope you're safe) you will find a small cup of espresso coffee strength obtained. Some places you can have a cup of filter coffee, known as café à l'américaine. Here are some other ideas that will help your Java order filled, as youwant:

Une Noissette - This is an espresso with a touch of cream or milk floats.

Cafe au Lait - An espresso with hot milk added.

Cafe Leger or Allonge - espresso coffee, the strength has been diluted.
In the café you can also order:

Trinkchokolade - Hot Chocolate. Many times these will be made without sugar - you add the amount you want.

The - tea, usually in a small saucepan with a cup of sugar and served alongside.

Théau Lait - tea with a small jug with hot milk.

Around noon

You may not be ready for a glass of wine with lunch to try so many French people, so why not one of the many bottles of water in France. When ordering water in a restaurant you think that it is not automatically placed on the table and if you want ice cubes, you have to ask (they are called Glaçon).

Une carafe d'eau - This is what to ask you if you do not want to payExtra for bottled water. They bring a jug with tap water.

Une bouteille plat de l'eau - bottled mineral water. Why not try several and see if you have a favorite.

De l'eau gazeuse - Sparkling Mineral Water. You will notice that the amount of carbon dioxide vary from light (Saint Yorre for example) to severe (Perrier), for example.

Aperitif

The ritual is to drink before dinner, alive and well in France. If youlocated in the south, why not try a glass of Pastis, France licorice liqueur? Or perhaps a Kir or Kir Royal (This black currant liqueur with either wine or champagne). There are so many regional specialties at cocktail hour, and it's fun to try to drink what the locals.

Wine

It would be a shame to come to France and not try some of the wines. France has many wine regions and each specializes in certain types of wine. Here are some terms that are you theOpen:

vin rouge - red wine
vin blanc - white wine
sec - dry
doux - sweet
AOC - stands for Appellation d'Origine contrôlée. This means that the wine in order to meet certain standards and grown in a particular region.
Vin de table - these are wines that do not have AOC. If you're lucky, you can find good ones, and they are usually less expensive.

Digestif

Well, if you made it through the meal and would like to try something else, could you orderdrink after a meal. Brandies known as eaux de vie are very popular. Water simply is not always the thirst Cut!

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

We all know the summer with thirst and I am quite sure we've all said, and about how good water is to be read to you and how most of us simply do not drink enough.

But if you are thirsty and do not cut the water, what do you do? Well, for me, the answer would be Coca Cola - cold, of course. For some, it would be a cold beer, and others would opt for soft drinks. But what is the healthy choice here, delete both the thirst AND aid our body health?

AfterJane Claxton-Oldfield, good old-fashioned soda has some serious disadvantages. "... The fact that many sodas contain caffeine - a stimulant - is no secret. On the contrary, some non-alcoholic beverages brought on the basis of their high intake of caffeine!"

She goes on to explain: "Too much caffeine can have serious consequences on health because it stimulates the release of adrenal hormones, which can cause a rise in blood pressure. Give the newer high caffeine content" promise, a burst of -- EnergyDrinks are mainly a very bad choice for quenching thirst. In fact, for each high-caffeinated beverage you consume, it is advisable to drink one or two glasses of water to combat its negative effects

"Another problem with soda is the high phosphorus, calcium (ratio of most soft drinks very little to no calcium). If we are too much phosphorus and calcium do not have enough, the body will draw calcium from the bones to the imbalance in correct ourBloodstream.

"Eventually may lead to osteoporosis. As if that's not enough, there is also a concern for other additives, such as color, which all too often found in soft drinks."

Well, Pop is out - at least it should be - but what does that leave us with choices?

Many people opt for fruit juices, to take the sharpness that supply the thirst and the body with much needed vitamins and nutrients. But while we are fruit juice, which is talking with the high sugar contentContent? I think it's another idea, the proverbial tube! Of course we could squeeze our new juice - but it takes a whole series of oranges (about 10!), To even a small glass of orange juice, and in today's economy, which is not necessarily the best idea.

What about eating a big, juicy orange? Or a piece of watermelon, one half of a Canteloupe, fresh pineapple or kiwi and mango? You'll be surprised how much a serving of one of these fruits will suppress your thirstand give you the much needed impetus to diet is whole foods can provide.

Another good idea is, of course, herbal teas. Herbal tea, the SO is best during the hot summer months. Simply put: 4-6 herbal tea bags in a glass jar or glass and sit outside in the sun until it reaches the thickness you prefer.

When I'm in a hurry and do not have to like a pitcher of iced tea, I am a single cup of hot tea (I let it be a little too steep stronger than menormally drink). Then I just pour it into a glass, add a few ice cubes and add enough water to make a full 10 or 12 ounces glass. Trust me, it works really well and it is delicious - almost a minute! And, herbal teas, like a good green tea (high in antioxidants) or chamomile (great day for you are stressed and worried), or a citrus and spice tea (great for energy!), Are very healthy alternatives to soda and beer.

Refreshing, Healthy & Delicious instantIced Tea

1 Green tea bag (or orange and spices, chamomile or other herbal mixture of your choice)
2 orange slices
5-7 ice cubes
Sweetener to taste (I prefer honey!) (Optional)
1 cup

Boiling water into the cup and your tea bag and let it steep for about 3 or 4 minutes. Add the ice cubes into a tall glass and pour the tea over the cubes. Add sweetener to taste if necessary. Add the orange slices to the mixture, pressing a little, as you putin the glass. top glass with cold water and enjoy your healthy treat of tea. I always swallow the orange slices, if I finish my tea glass.

Of course I have to add that drinking a small glass of freshly squeezed juice (you can in a little water to stretch it further) and your 8-10 glasses of water a day, are very healthy eating habits that we should all try to maintain .

Three steps to stop smoking altogether

Friday, March 19, 2010

Smoking is a vile habit. I know, I used to smoke at least two packs of cigarettes a day.

Exit may be much of a chore, one that can sometimes seem impossible. But it need not be so hard if you only know the secret and follow my three simple steps.

There are many methods rely on available today. Most of them cost money, some of them cost a lot of money. But you still have to spend an arm and a leg to smoking, as long as you my fool-proof finish in three stepsPlan. The plan is not expensive, "nicotine patches or nicotine chewing gum". It does not involve expensive drugs. It is not an expensive therapy sessions. And it's not even involve hypnosis!

So without further ado, here are my three simple steps to quit smoking for good and free.

Step one: Complete the schedule time. Not only decide to quit, and then start it again, instead of doing some schedule time to it. Two weeks is ideal, but a week will work even if you do notfind two fixed week liberate. Try from work for this period. Try away from friends and family as much as possible. Are you planning something different this time. No dinner with friends, not work related, trips, nothing. You want as much time as possible, free time, that it is focused entirely on exit.

If you are from work for a week, do it! If nothing else, stop smoking on a Wednesday, and then take home from work on Thursday and Friday, you will have the weekend. The law of five days there (which is almost a week!).

Quitting is difficult. The less stress you have in others the time you get a better chance of making it through the whole thing have.

Step two: Replace cigarettes with something else, preferably a type of food. I Twizzlers. I suppose you could use pretzel rods, or the like. The thing is, you will keep cigarettes used all the time. They are used to put it on your lips. You need to draw one of a kindto replace the first week or two when you first try to quit, too.

Pick something that the general shape resembles a cigarette. I like Twizzlers because they are tough. The chewing of them gave me his mouth something to do, when I normally would be sucking on a cigarette. It really helps you control your desires and is a very important part of my special three-stage system.

Step three: This is the final step and the most important. Drink lots of water! The reason why many people do notended, is because the body has stored much nicotine contained therein. The blood in your! You must rinse out and the sooner you do this away, the more likely the desire.

I kept two jugs of water in the fridge and if I have a request, I poured water from one of the jars into a large thirty-two ounces McDonalds cup and drank it right then and there. In fact, you should not be out of the kitchen until you finish the glass.

Then I would top up the pitcherwith tap water and move to freeze them on the back of the refrigerator too. I would then move to the other pitcher, who was still with cold water, full to the front of the fridge when my next request made, usually about half an hour later to an hour.

You can imagine, I went through a lot of water, way! But it is a good way to flush your system very quickly and it gives you something else to think and do something else when a craving hits. Usually by the time I finishedthat massive glass of water I found that my desire was almost over!

These are my three steps to end free.

What to Look For in a Drinking Water Filter System

Thursday, March 18, 2010

There is no drinking water filter system that can be called the number one product. There are several filter systems produced by different manufacturers, but the best water filter system is the one that suits your needs best. There are a few things to consider when looking for a potable water filter. The first and most obvious reason is to obtain a water filter that you can get the clear water.

The filters also eliminate odor in the water. The water also tastes different when itcontaminated, and the truth is that all tap water is contaminated, although it goes through a filtration process. Some of the treatments used to purify the water are harmful to our bodies, so further filtering is necessary if you want to drink tap water safely. Each of the models has advantages and disadvantages.

The water filter pitcher is a limited number of filtered water, the best anti those who occupy space on the counter and ask the counter under which, a littleSanitary knowledge, or even a plumber. In the process of filtering and cleaning the water some of the models more water than it actually filters, while others in the electricity sector.

So you need to do a little of the research in your household, to see which one fits your needs better and which one is more profitable for you. First, you have to estimate how much water you need for drinking water. Since the recommended amount is 2 liters per day per person for drinking water usemight be considered relatively large in your household. It all depends on how many people you family consists of.

Try in the selection of filter technology, how much your water bill will be greater if water filtration system that uses reverse osmosis technology, or how much your electric bill increase if you use the UV-value technology. Also a good thing that is holding you before purchasing a filter, check how often you change or clean the filter mustand how much they cost.

Often the system is relatively cheap, but the exchange of filters or cartridges are more expensive. Depending on the model you choose must filter the filter from the water to change the procedure every month or every quarter or as needed. The advantage of a known brand in the market is that it usually filters available in most locations, making the filters are not impossible to do something, but easy and pleasant.

NoQuestion of which model or the technology you use in a drinking water filter system, you should be able to immediately observe the differences. Water should have no smell, the taste should be much improved and pleasant, the sediment should be removed and the bacteria. The more filters, a system, the better the quality of the water.

Thus, water can happen two, three or even eight filters before it in your glass. If you are still undecided which one to buy,You always start with a carbon filter system that offers very good quality for the price and do not involve very high costs for filter replacement.

How to Make a Low-Calorie Margarita

Friday, March 12, 2010

Living in San Diego took me something like a tequila fan, or colloquially, a margarita mother. But there is a big problem I have encountered with the beverage liked my enthusiasm barometer. It is the calories from prefabricated margarita mixer. These mixers are loaded with sugar, which not only makes for a growing waste line, but also induces unnecessary hangover.

So now, after months of toiling with my shakers, straws and limes, I've created a margarita, do notSet me on my clothes in the hopeless Schlemmer department at Macy's.

Instructions for making Crock Pot Handmade Soap

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Manufacture of soap in a crock pot is a simple way to hot "use process" method.

This provided how-to tutorial describes my steps for making crock pot soap, and that you are familiar with the process Soapmaking.

Start with a good recipe. I prefer recipes that a higher proportion of liquid oil to solids. One of my favorite recipes is very simple: 60% oil, 20% Palm Kernel Oil, 20% palm oil. Run it through a lye calculator to determine the amount of lye and [distilled] water needed.I do not discount my water hot, if process. (One of my favorite recipes can be found at the end of this guide.)

I use a 6 1 / 2 liter crock pot. A 4 pound batch of soap fits perfectly. It fills the crock pot about half full - giving room in case of it bubbling, but not too small an amount that it could burn.

First place, measuring the water and set aside.

Then measure the lye into a separate container. Slowly pour the lye into the pitcher with cold water. Stirto resolution. To provide a safe place.

If my lye mixture aside, I measure my solid oils. These can be melted into the pot to pot. This one needs more in this way, so I usually put them in the microwave for a few minutes until they melted and then pour in the Crockpot.

At this point in my crock pot is on low.

I recommend a good rubber spatula to scrape the bowl - no sense leaving behind every good oils.

Next, I measure my olive oil --and / or other liquid oils I happen to crockpot with - and this amounts to.

Take your cell phone and dandy stick blender at low speed, slowly pour the lye mixture into the melted oils. Move the stick blender around, above, below, to ensure, a nice mix well. If you do not stick blender, a stainless steel whisk has works great - just requires a little more power arm.

Once it has reached "trace", I have the lid on the crockpot and turn the heat setting uptoo high. But the first few times I made crock pot soap, I have it on low until I was confident how it works (both the soap and my crockpot).

Now I'm ready my mold, measure any fragrance oils or essential oils and other additives, I also want to use.

After about 15 or 20 minutes, I take off the lid and around with a potato masher, mash the soap. It has a look at a vaseline texture, shiny, smooth. It will have a waxy feel when you rub a piece of it between glovedFingers.

Add your additives, colorants, herbs, etc and mix well with a potato masher. When the mixture is quite good, add your fragrance and mix.

It is finished! At this point, it's really soap. It must only be placed in your form. I do this in large spoonfuls, pounding my mold to ensure the bar every couple of bullets that packaging in the form of firm. If I have it all in the form, I have a baggie on my hand and flatten the top - and make sure "squeeze" them into theCorners really well.

Now is a good time to wash all the dishes. And you will not have to add any soap! You should see some nice foam from the soap you've just done.

I let it sit over-night. The next morning, I rush and slice into bars to air for a week or so. Once a cure time needed cash, I bevel each one, and it is ready for use or sale.

My favorite crock pot soap recipe:

Rosemary Mint Handmade Soap

4 pounds

- 38 ounces olive oil(59.38%)

- 14.4 ounces palm kernel oil (22.5%)

- 11.6 ounces palm oil (18.13%)

- 8.7 ounces sodium hydroxide (5% discount)

- 17.5 ounces of distilled water

- 3 ounces rosemary mint blend essential oils

- 2 teabags of Organic Peppermint

Disclaimer: Sodium hydroxide is highly corrosive and should be treated with care and professionalism. It is the responsibility of the research Seifensiederhaus security procedures for Soapmaking.

How to install a home water filter system

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Installing a home water purifier is easier than you think. In fact, some water-filtering systems do not require installation. For example, you can buy a jug of water purifier. This is probably the least expensive type of water purifier available. Fill the jar with tap water and a filter in the filter cleans the water. Pitcher kind of filter are among the most commonly used water purifiers today.

You can also filter fluorideoften simply to suit your sink. These filters help remove metals from water and other toxic pollutants such as arsenic, lead and fluorine. You can also use models that fit under your sink filtration. Now you are likely to install. Fortunately, most come with their own installation kit, reducing the amount of work you have to do too much! Here are some basic steps that are to set up under the counter water filtration system:

1. Remove the waterFiltering out of the box it comes in (this part is easy!).

2. Turn the water is reduced with the shut-off valve (this is usually located under the sink).

3. Disconnect the cold water from the tap valve. You may need to use a key to her mother that the tube be resolved to your sink faucet.

4. Place the water filtration unit under the cabinet from the wall closest to the cold water. With a pen or pencil you can mark where you are neededMounting holes of the mount so that you will keep your filter.

5. Drill the screws that hold the filter cartridge.

6. Connect your water purifier drops your water line.

7. Connect a line that goes from the purifier to your tap.

Now, your instructions may differ slightly from the type of water filter you have. In general, however, you can by with a wrench, maybe a drill and a screwdriver. If your filter in place, you can slowly re -Your tap back on and make sure that all connection points are sealed off (so that no water) holes. It's really that easy!

Faucet Mounted Water Filter

These are by far the easiest to install and you do not require any tools. If you want to make sure first and foremost that you are clean drinking water in your home and do not want to invest in a cartridge filtration system, a faucet mounted water filter will work well. Everything you need to do to install it, is screwedthe aerator on your sinks spout and attach the filter on it. Usually is screws on. You need to regularly replace the filter cartridges in this type of filter. Some find a faucet mounted unit can easily reduce the pressure of the water, but this is really not too much a disadvantage for most people.

Facts About Home Water Filtration Units

You should remember that a sink will remove specific water filtration unit particles, dirt, and only the water in theBasin, that the filter is installed. Most people choose the sink as an ideal sink for a filtration device. Why? You may find your cook, you wash your dishes, and where many people draw their drinking water. Remember, if you filter the water and outgoing of your home, you improve your health and wellbeing. Our bodiesare 90% water, after all. We could also our body the best water we can perhaps!

The biggest benefit for your body is mineral water because it is pure and contains minerals and nutrients that your body needs.Filtered water is also acceptable.

However, if you can, I drink tap water because it is treated with chlorine and other substances. Distilled water is also not recommended because it is known in its essential minerals your body stripes.

Water Filters - Affordable for Families

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Health awareness of people are on the loose, and water is an important factor for our health. Now, families with a small budget can be a water filter of some sort, so that they can enjoy healthy water.

I have reviewed many brands of filters and found the basic general information on all of them.

The faucet mount system runs about $ 25 and comes with 1 original filter.

Replacement filters are about $ 15 each and you can in a multi-pack, which means you'llalways ready when a filter is done, and they are cheaper by buying more than one after the other. Water is through the oval cylinder, which filtered the filter houses and comes from a small pea-sized hole. This means reducing the pressure of the water, which in turn take longer to fill a glass.

The second bracket is a faucet with a side button, instead of the whole unit and water dispensed from the tap, instead of the small hole in the filter. Waterwill come faster from a larger hole. This device is a little more expensive at $ 39.99, but you do not have to do to turn the power mirrors and forth. The replacement filters are the same at about $ 15 per, and cheaper if you buy in a quantity box.

The under sink filter is actually quite easy to install. You only need to make more space under the sink, cabinet, but still have room for larger objects. This device costs about $ 89 and replace the filters are $ 35. ThisFilters approximately 200 gallons of water, will provide a quality experience for about 4-6 months.

The pitcher is entirely at 9.99 euros for the 1-gallon price. You can buy different versions of the filter, which can cost more. These cans are a few other bells and whistles on it like a digital display, more capacity and even has an option next to the filter, which is pretty cool. These other versions may vary in price from $ 22 to $ 29 for the fancy models. The replacementFilter for the cans are about $ 9.99.

I tested them all and how the undersink version of the best, as I still have to do to fill a pitcher with all of the time or filtered water when it was empty. The faucet can be cumbersome to install the sink.

There are many ways for a family to have a water filter.
