Sgraffito pottery was once considered the ships of the Kings. From the Byzantine emperors, Russian czars has been the sgraffito earthenware for the blue-bloods "of the finest houses in Europe. Sgraffito ceramics by the complicated designs that actually defines scratched the surface of the clay before firing. This type of pottery is often made with bright colors and coated with a lighter liquid tone for contrast. It is at this point that the patterns are carved intoceramics shows the base color underneath.

This kind of earth ware can be traced all the way back to the Sung Dynasty in China. There is a vase as "Chou-T'zu vase comes from the 11 to 12 century AD. They said, sgraffito can be found in many ancient cultures in the world. It became very popular among the many dishes in Italy the Renaissance. It is a style of pottery, which quickly became very sought after and collectible.

There are certainly a number of veryexpensive places online, they buy art, but it can be difficult to find, beautiful yet affordable Sgriffito ceramics. Many of these places were also out of my price range. But I saw some nice, affordable examples at Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, MA, if we are on vacation on Cape Cod The plantation is a living museum where costumed interpreters portray actual people from the founding of the first English colony in New England. In addition to this wonderful recreation havean excellent craft center, where you not only watch modern craftsmen, potters, furniture makers, embroiderers and local craftsmen to design and create their wares, but you can buy these fine gifts as well. In addition to the plates, I bought myself managed to get a pitcher and a few cups and. I want to fetch a couple of cups as a gift so have an online gift shop happy.
