It jumped right out at me, that ad in one of these decidedly upscale consumer magazines. Do not get me wrong, I know not to subscribe to it. I do not fit his readers profile. Would that be do not want. The magazine was actually sent a free sample, something which I for. I will try everything possible to free. Well, almost. But this particular ad just jumped out and bit me in the nose.
The headline says something to read "Easy Flavored Water!" That's what grabbed my attention. I had notheard that term before. Slightly flavored water? OK, I said, "I have been reading more about this taste experience," the ad touting. I had apparently missed one of the most intriguing taste pleasures of life.
As I read further, I could not laugh. The ad me back a few years at a time when my wife and I - were started along with some other couples of our time - our families. Money for us and our circle of friends at that time was much narrower than inhas over the years.
A couple in this group included my cousin and her husband, a nice guy, in the process of building a company, he would by borrowing against everything that he had bought. But, hey, were many of us that bitten by the bug then. We all wanted to own our own businesses. Some of us made, others not. Kinda like the world today.
But what struck me chuckle when I read more about "Easy Flavored Water" in this yuppie magazine was how theWorld seems to have almost full circle without my coming.
My cousin, bless her, had a reputation back then develops is frugal. "Cheap" was really the word we used. But only if they are not within earshot. "Thrifty" was not a word that we knew the meaning. But we were well aware of "cheap." And were cheap and cousin Sherry - all because of the "Easy Flavored Water synonymous."
Nothing with that name, there was at that time. In fact, the peoplenot yet aware that she would one day like to pay much money for bottled water. Water was free. It came from the faucet of the sink. Now no one can attack at home without leaving a bottle of water - 16 ounces for only € 1.29. On sale. Everyone is wondering why you do not think this gimmick?
"Easy Flavored Water" is an even better gimmick. And it was invented by my cousin Sherry years. Although she did not know it at the time. And theyhas not made even one cent from the narrow idea since. But "easy Flavored Water" is what it deserves the name, Cheap sherry. And we are not talking about wine, either.
Every time that we visit Sherry and her husband, her drink du jour was Kool-Aid ®. But not just any Kool-Aid. Sherry had a way for turning 10-cent packet Kook-Aid in a sea of Kool-Aid.
While it may be started as a jug of water with taste of fruits when it got down to business, thelast glass of Kool-Aid into the pitcher, Cindy would head back into her kitchen and fill the jug with water.
What to drink spiced originally as a ruby red, pink fruit soon. And by the time of the evening was about the pink liquid was brighter and brighter until it is almost as clear as the water, always resorting to the pitcher.
At the end of the evening was what we were drinking ... You guessed it. "Easy Flavored Water." Andcertainly not cost $ 2.00 a pint. Heck, one cent envelope of Kool-Aid, Sherry could serve a lot of thirsty friends for an entire evening. Endless.
Bless you cousin, ingenuity, that you, if perhaps a little ahead of the curve when it came to "Easy Flavored Water." If we had only known, we could all have been successful.
